When visiting Guatemala, there are several things that cannot be ignored… This is a beautiful country but yet still developing, meaning the roads, services like restaurants and stops for breaks and toilets in rural areas as places to stay or visit for activities must be well selected before visiting. We always encourage our clients to know their route, to have a coffee with Google Maps and understand their direction and locations you will go through on the way to your destination before starting your trip, it is highly recommended to do so no matter what, we do not recommend to anyone to just travel with no sense of direction or location.
Another thing that can make a big difference in your travel experience here in Guatemala is to study the travel services of any nature… tour operators or transportation services before coming as well as the travel destinations you wish to visit, we do have access to the online world nowadays and making sure you will be using legit and legal services will always make your visit more pleasant and comfortable… For instance, if you want to use a shuttle service from a company with no website, with no trace on the online world, with no reference in travel blogs, with no social media and proper commercial structure may be a risk for the money you are about to invest as for your own safety, always travel with certified and commercially well established companies if comfort and safety are important to you.
Important tips:
- Check online about any travel service you are about to hire, if it is not present online, do not hire it if your safety is your priority
- Always as for a Factura / Purchase Receipt (“The factura is our official proof of purchase and payment in Guatemala”), a business which does not provide factures, might be a ghost company with no legal and commercial structure and probably shady intentions and low standards, that including vehicles in bad conditions, bad logistics and more in the urge of money than to provide a good service, when people love what they do no matter in what field they make sure everything has the right structure and they focus on building a good name and reputation for their company.
