The town of Copán Ruinas, often simply called Copán, is a beautiful place, paved with cobblestones and lined with white adobe buildings with red-tiled roofs. It’s also one of the most charming and traveler oriented places in Honduras. Copán is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization located in the Copán Department of western Honduras, not far from the border with Guatemala. The Copan Ruins are located 1 km east of the town of Copan Ruinas in the western part of Honduras, about 60 kilometers from the border with Guatemala.
